BEYOND THE CITY

What to see in La Rioja from Logroño

A Logroño base lets you mix city activities with La Rioja day trips. Choose one area per day rather than trying to see everything, and confirm timed visits before planning your route.

Vineyards and the town of Briones, La Rioja

Haro and the station district

Haro is a key wine-tourism destination. Wineries in Barrio de la Estación offer tours and tastings. Compare duration, language and inclusions; not all allow walk-in visits.

Briones and wine culture

Combine a walk around Briones with Vivanco’s museum, winery or other activities. Check times, availability and children’s conditions directly on the provider’s website.

San Millán de la Cogolla

Visit Suso and Yuso monasteries for a day of history and heritage. Plan each visit separately using current official information; do not assume one ticket covers both or that entry is possible at any time.

Ezcaray and a day in the mountains

Combine Ezcaray’s village streets with local food and nearby nature. Choose your route for the season, weather and group. Wear suitable footwear and check trail conditions before walking.

Sierra de Cebollera

For nature, plan a visit to Sierra de Cebollera Natural Park. Check official trails and guidance, respect signs, and consider distance, elevation and time—not just a photograph—when choosing your walk.

A three-day escape

Try Logroño on day one, Haro or Briones on day two, and heritage or nature on day three. Leave time for travel and meals. After wine tasting, return with a non-drinking driver or pre-booked transport.

Also nearby: Rioja Alavesa

Elciego and Laguardia are in Álava’s Rioja Alavesa, not the autonomous community of La Rioja. They fit a Rioja wine-region trip, but keep the distinction in mind when planning routes and bookings.
